About Darren
After a failed business in 1992, Darren LaCroix took the stage at a Boston comedy club—and bombed. The headliner told him to keep his day job, and friends thought his dream of making people laugh for a living was crazy. Darren didn’t listen. Instead, he became a student of comedy, sought out great mentors, and proved that humor and powerful presentation skills can be learned.
Less than nine years later, Darren outspoke 25,000 contestants from 14 countries to become the 2001 World Champion of Public Speaking—winning with a very funny speech. Today, he is a Certified Speaking Professional (CSP), Accredited Speaker (AS), and World Champion of Public Speaking, a combination his website identifies as unique in the speaking profession.
Since his championship win, Darren has traveled the world helping speakers and leaders create more powerful, memorable presentations. He has delivered keynotes in every U.S. state and 45 international cities and has spent decades training speakers, trainers, and experts around the world.
Darren is the founder of Stage Time University, where he helps presenters develop the skills to connect deeply with audiences and become unforgettable on stage. He is co-host of the Unforgettable Presentations podcast and coauthor of Laugh & Get Rich and The Speaker’s Edge.
